We have a 2018 Sahara with the 7" display and Alpine Stereo and a 2018 Rubicon with the 8" display and Alpine stereo.

I've noticed that in the Sahara the stereo BOOMS compared to the Rubi. I'm talking I need to keep the bass on 0 or -1 and it still thunders as good or better than the Rubi with the bass at +3.
Don't get me wrong, the Rubi sounds good, but the Sahara sounds GREAT. It seems to be more full sounding and enveloping in general. So it has me wondering is there a difference between the 7" version vs. the 8" version? Is there a magical switch that was flicked on the Sahara to make it next level better?

Are you sure the Sub is working? The stereo in that Jeep always sounded awesome. Even the little sub in my 2 door hits pretty decent.

Yep. The Rubi has the panels in it but I can't imagine those panels having that much of an effect. Could they?

That's a good question... I hope that isn't the case, I just ordered mine with the panels. ?

The stereo booms in my Rubicon with the 8.4".

The thing about the tops, if you have a hard top and unplug it (like your removing it) the sound changes. Are both tops plugged in?

What?!?! That is very odd.
Both tops are plugged in.

EDIT:
I disconnected the hard top while the stereo was playing and the music is briefly interrupted both while unplugging and plugging in. I was kind of surprised by that but there was no audible difference in sound.

OK, just confirmed the sub is def thumping away. It's not that the stereo isn't good or pounding away, it's that the Sahara is notably stronger, fuller, louder.
