Hey everyone, I have a noobie question. I am going off roading this weekend and to prep I was practicing disconnecting my Sway Bar and reconnecting it. I am not overly technical and this is my first time so I wanted to try it first before I ended up on a trail looking clueless. I was able to get the driver side no problem. I was not able to get the passenger side though, it actually looked different than the driver side. Is this normal? How do I go able disconnecting it? Do I need a special tool? I was not able to get the wrench or socket it in. Please see the pics below. First pic is the driver side. Second is the passenger. Appreciate your help! Driving a 2020 JLU Willys

How serious do you plan on Off-Roading?? Unless you are rock crawling, leave it alone.

That’s a flag nut, you don’t need any tools on that side. Just untorque the bolt from outside.

Also can google flag nut if you’re still confused.

The passenger side has a "flag nut" on it, no need for a wrench or socket on the inside. The flag nut will rotate until it hits the metal while loosening, then the bolt will back out. After removing the bolt the flag nut will come out just like a regular nut would.

Thanks for the quick responses! That makes sense. I didn't even attempt to mess with it since I wasn't sure. I appreciate the help!

If you are going to be offroading often you might want to invest in some quick disconnects.
Most definitely! I can see how manually doing it can get old quickly. Just got the Jeep back in August, don't plan on lifting it any time soon. May need to do some research on finding some quick releases that work with the stock height.

Do it a few times and you can disconnect them pretty quick, I can disconnect mine while my tires are airing down and have them connected by the time they're aired back up. I have a small Viair compressor though that takes about 10 minutes to air up all the tires. The only time it's tough is if you're a ways off from level ground. Having a stubby bumper also gives you a bit easier access in there :)
