Based off his post and how good of a driver he is. I’m surprised he didn’t order one with no power steering, power brakes, and drums all the way around. It doesn’t matter how you were taught to drive, or even how good of a driver you are. Having an option that makes you safer is not a waste of money. What’s wrong with wanting to have brighter lights that shine further? If you don’t want them, that is fine, but the aren’t a waste of money.
Sorry I hurt your feelings about your driving ability.

The original post in this thread is a shining example of a ?post.
Same as the posts from people that come here to cry about why they’re getting rid of their Jeep and then get upset because people say “bye”.

I think there's also a presumption made by the OP that most people "out drive" their headlights, and that's the reason why some think halogens are inadequate.

While that's possible, sure, forward lighting can simply be better even when driving safely for conditions at night. If OP thinks halogens are adequate, OK. Some of us just prefer....better.

I took my headlights out completely and wear night vision goggles instead. Not only did I make a bucks on my bulbs, but I lowered my energy bill too from using less lights.
The cost to get into NV far outweighs any of those gains ?

Drove our 2023 JLU in the dark last night for the first time. I ordered the Wrangler without the LED lighting. No regrets, the factory halogens light up the road just fine.
Thank you. I was thinking of posting something like this in the "What is an unpopular opinion you have in the Jeep community?" thread over in the Gladiator forum (or maybe I did already). I love the mellow warm light from halogens and have found them to be more than sufficient. Preferable, actually.

The only reason I see to get brighter headlights is because of being blinded by everyone else's LED headlights. But I absolutely abhor the light from LEDs. LED headlights do not put out solid light, they are extremely intense strobe lights and my eyes/brain can tell it.

Sorry for your condition. I love the bright white LEDs. I also like to augment the lighting with amber driving/fog lights. We live in a rural enough area that there is a good chance to hit a deer at night. The additional lighting throws further and helps me see and maybe is a better deterrent for the crossing animal?

Sorry for your condition.
I appreciate that. I'm surprised more people don't have a problem with them. I decided to buy a new truck in 2023 rather than holding off because LEDs are becoming standard on lower and lower trim levels. Halogens are going away.

I'll admit to flashing my high beams at oncoming drivers with blatantly dazzling headlights, a fair number of whom flash back to indicate that I was in fact distracted by their low beams.

When that occurs, I'm careful to look at the headlights as we pass by. I want to see if there are obvious LED bulb retrofits in halogen housings, or if the dazzling light is emanating from an OEM LED headlight array. I'd say the split here is about 40/60, with the latter percentage representing factory fitments. That's not reassuring.

I'm not saying YOU do, but a lot of people stare right at bright headlights when they see the dazzle. Not good. Personally, I focus as far out on the Fog line (right side, away from the oncoming headlights) as I can.

It really helps a lot, especially those of us who don't have young eyes anymore (hello, 40...).

If you don't over drive your headlights like you were supposed to be taught in drivers education, you will have no issues seeing what is necessary in front, or to the side of you. Also living in a snowy State, I don't have issues with snow/ice building up on the lights. I have been driving for over 45 years, and never had an issue driving at night without the aid of LED lighting. I spent the $1200.00 Jeep would have charged me for factory LEDs, and bought lots of accessories I actually got use out of. When it comes to off-roading, that's a different scenerio than normal street driving, which is all I do.
Ok, as long as you are happy, I ordered mine with the LED package and have no second thoughts whatsoever. :movember:
