I wanted it mounted on the dash as I do not run a rear view mirror. The Wolfbox G900 is made to be attached to the rear mirror. You can install it without drilling your dash like I did. I like it a lot. I typically have it set to display the rear camera so I have a rear view mirror again. You can play back the videos and pictures through the display. I have a card reader for my iPhone. They are like $10 off amazon so if I needed a file I don't need a PC with me. 99% of all dash cam footage is just crap and I have no desire to have 15 terabytes of dash cam footage. I often just format the card. it take about 4 seconds to do it.

The wiring is in my opinion easy. I think that now that I have done it once, I could probably do it in under an hour. There is plenty of wiring and no need of any extensions. You can always just use the 12 volt cigarette plug to. I just don't like exposed wiring all over the place when it is so easy to hide. just know that in my first post on my thread, there is a link to Wolfbox and a discount code of TEDWIBORN to save you some money. I find myself taking a bunch of still photos with the dash cam too.
Thanks! I don't particularly want it in the cigarette lighter either for the same reason, less exposed wires. Plus I believe when the Jeep is off, the camera is off that way? No battery power. I wouldn't be able to take advantage of remote features. I already have my bulletpoint magsafe phone mount wire going to the front usb port. In your installation video you showed the fuse taps. If the hardware kit is as simple as that, I don't mind. Which fuse slots did you use to tap into? Are there extra available? I'm wondering what the good slots are to use for ACC and BATT on the '24 model if that's different as well. Maybe fuse box is unchanged from earlier JLs to '24. I will definitely use your code to save some money if I pull the trigger.

Edit: I just noticed they do offer the OBD wiring kit as well. So that's another option. Nice.

I just used my wire tester to find a slot that was hot when the acc was powered up.

How long does the Nexar Beam's Lithium battery last? How much hassle is it to power on/off?
I fully admit to not knowing this camera's battery's specs but would hazard a guess that even its fully charged battery's operation is, given the Lithium chemistry, likely to not function well below freezing temperatures, for whatever that's worth.

Hi Matthew.

By default (it is customizable) the cargo area plug is supplied from the factory as a "battery" type power source, meaning that it is always energized, irrespective of whether the vehicle's engine (at least ICE JLs) is cranked.

Another, at least in cabin source of "battery" (i.e. always energized) power is pin 16 (of 16) of the ODB2 port, which by convention is also always energized.

https://components101.com/connectors/obd2

One can move a fuse in the Power Distribtution Center (PDC, the fuse box) to change the type power source, to only energized when the vehicle is on.

This post talks about when the USB ports are energized. https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/is-my-radio-possessed.122186/#post-2557442

I was just wondering how often you've been replacing the battery or is there a 12v power option? I didn't see either on the Amazon ad for this camera.

It's plugged into the cig socket, so it comes on when I start the Jeep. Never ran it on just the battery, so I don't know. But I know it stays on long enough to download the latest trip to my phone, which never takes more than my 30 second walk to the front door.
AH! OK, didn't know there is a 12v power option. I didn't see that on the Amazon page for this cam. THANKS!

Does anybody know if the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) box gets in the way of dashcam view, hanging from the mirror?

Superb question. I'm looking into a E-YEEGER V100PRO (standard garden variety China cam) because it looks like it will snug right up to the bottom of the AAC housing.

I wish our friends at FITCAMX would turn their attention to building a model for ACC Jeeps. Their whole deal is putting the camera in a plastic housing that snaps in to windshield sensor clusters. I put one in my wife's Volvo and it's indistinguishable from some OEM option.
