Hello all.
About a year ago I purchased a 2 door JL Rubicon with the 2.0L. One thing I noticed that I haven't noticed on unlimiteds or gladiators was a driveline noise at very low speeds. One thread on this forum mentioned how it sounds like someone gently knocking on the side of a plastic box. For me, it would only occur at speeds under 10mph, especially when you would slowly pull forward and then let off the gas and the jeep would coast forward. The noise would stop as soon as the car would become stationary again.
Well, fast forward to now and I just noticed this noise again on my new 2023 Rubicon with the 3.6. Automatic transmissions on both, factory tires (that's changing this afternoon though because 35s look sweet and that's half the battle lol). I didn't notice it at the dealership because A) I had forgotten about the issue. B) These hot summer days make you crank the A/C upon entering a vehicle that's been sitting on the lot.
So, with all this being said, I'm wondering if it's normal for these jeeps, or if quality control has been an issue with drivelines in the 2 doors for over a year now. Either way, I'm going to wheel it until something breaks, then worry about upgrading to all the fun stuff as needed. I'd be interested to see if others are still noticing this in their jeeps and for how long. Obviously if someone has made it tens of thousands of miles without issue, I'll be less inclined to worry about it. Thanks!
Oh and the new rubi has the cold weather pack, factory auxiliary switches (tow pack if I'm not mistaken), and the plain Jane halogen lights (I don't mind them because those LEDs have caused so many people to flash their brights at me in the past).
