So every year, my wife hounds me to put together a Christmas list so the family can have some ideas what to get me. And every year, I always throw something on it that just shoots the moon. So I figured I'd throw a Dana U44 on there this year for giggles. I saw that All Mopar Parts was having a big Black Friday sale with prices up to 30% off. Now, I wasn't expecting 30% off an axle (which would have been AWESOME!), but I didn't expect their price to be marked up above MSRP. Normally $4399, right now $4522. Maybe I'm missing something about the sale.
Either way, I'll link it to my list with no worries of unwrapping it and see what happens.
Anyone else seeing "negative discounts" out there?
Peace!

Having worked in retail(grocery store) for many years this doesn't surprise me

I've been fortunate enough in my life to never have worked in a retail atmosphere, so I'll take you word for the pricing strategy.

A few years ago, a local trailer dealer wanted to charge me a hundred or so dollars above MSRP for a motorcycle hitch carrier, when the manufacturer themselves advised me that their dealers should price the carrier a bit below that number.

When I challenged the dealer on the foregoing, using the manufacturer's own email as proof, they stubbornly offered to sell the carrier at MSRP. Bye, Felisha.

I eventually found an online seller that didn't molest me on ground shipping, and priced the hitch carrier for a bit under MSRP, so that's how I bought it. No sales tax, either.
