Hey y'all,

Wondering if anyone has ever changed a stripped front wheel stud for their JL. I HAVE LOOKED AND SEARCHED EVERYWHERE FOR HELP. I have a jeep wrangler Sahara 2019 and when changing my brakes I noticed when screwing the lug nuts back onto the wheel stud I noticed the threads on one stud was stripped. So I retook apart the caliper and removed the rotor to get to the wheel hub. I punched the stripped wheel stud with a hammer and noticed there was no clearance at the steering knuckle for the the stud head/flange to clear the knuckle at any location (trust me I was spinning that wheel hub to find that sweet spot to get the stud out). In my head I thought to myself this is going to be a nightmare putting a new one back in. I bought a replacement front wheel stud 68325126AA from a jeep dealer but it looked off. Went to two jeep dealers and both looked the same and different than the original wheel stud that came with my vehicle. The flange was a lot bigger. Got back to my garage and since I couldn't remove that stud that I punched out of the wheel hub I decided to just cut the bolt out.

So when I attempted to put the new front wheel stud into the wheel hub, just like I imagined... It could not clear that darn steering knuckle.. I don't know what jeep wants but I hope I don't have to remove my stock wheel bearing just to put on a wheel stud sigh. I also don't want to get the dealer to do it just to charge me $700 to put a stud in. And won't removing the stock wheel bearing is not advisable as it will lead to failure a lot sooner to my bearing?

Anyone do this job for their JL? I have searched the ends of this planet for any type of video, or forum post but everyone seems to only work on the rear studs or their front JK stud which has a total different anatomy for the steering knuckle/ wheel hub combo. Thanks so much in advance, I'm sorry this was a lengthy one..

The hub is a unit with the studs already mounted on it. Good luck changing just the stud. This is the sort of thing that happens when the entry level guys rotating tires think they’re part of a NASCAR pit crew, and start lug nuts with an impact.

it is super easy to pull the axle. If you have the rotor off, there is just the big axle nut that you need to remove, and the three wheel hub assembly bolts and one bolt that holds the speed sensor in the hub out to remove and the axle comes out.

Can't watch video - not supported.

Assuming the stud is real close to passing by the hub - With a dremel tool or other small grinder, you could grind away enough hub and/or stud flange to allow passage.

That's exactly what I did and I got it through. Shaved off a little bit steering knuckle as well as the stud flange and gave me clearance without breaking the bank. Thanks y'all for the help
