Navigation Preference

My nav wants to send me down residential streets rather than sticking to arterials and freeways. In Garmin Speak I would call this using shortest route rather than fastest route. I can't seem to find a setting that would address this.

Thanks, I'll give that a try tomorrow. I was scrolling through the various settings and counldn't find anything helpful.
It's sort of like microwaves "why can't they all have the same controls?"
