MPG resets everytime car starts. How come?

Please excuse me if this is a stupid question, but about two days ago my MPG average started resetting every time I would start my Wrangler. It is brand new, I purchased it not even a month ago and my average MPG stayed for about three weeks. Now all of a sudden every single time I start my wrangler it resets itself to 12.2 MPG. Does anyone know why? I know you can reset it on your own and many will every time they get gas, but I don't even have that option now. Any input would be great!
