In your Jeep, it is usually the 4G GPS inventory control tracker installed under the dash by your dealer to track a Jeep that is behind on loan/lease payments, so that their local repo man can locate and hook up the property. At a minimum, it tracks you in real time. Some dealers have it wired to remote kill the ignition. They write off the less than $100 device once the debt is paid in full, but they can still locate their product. The most ingenious, extraordinarily effective and widely used tracking device ever invented is the one you pay a lot of money for then willingly likely carry around with you all day, every day. Your smartphone. Google it (but know that when you do, Google is tracking you).
Your desire for privacy demonstrates that you do not understand there is no privacy. Only an illusion of privacy.
you tinfoil hat peeps are hilarious. It’s got nothing to do with privacy, it’s about functionality of multiple services that are designed to enhance the driver experience.Found this under SiriusXM settings

I don't quite get why people think privacy is binary as though it's all or nothing. It's risk management. And being cavalier is what leads to people losing privacy.I beg to differ, but you need to be ready to do sacrifice and effort in maintaining your privacy.
Surrendering your privacy is all fine and dandy until all this information is used against you. For instance, in this case the collected location information can be “anonymized” and sell off. If I was an insurance company, I would try to put my hand on such information and attempt to match it to my client list and see if they violate their policy. In our neck of the wood insurance are so intrusive that they propose app on your phone to monitor your behavior.
In this particular case it is about raising awareness more than anything else.I don't quite get why people think privacy is binary as though it's all or nothing. It's risk management. And being cavalier is what leads to people losing privacy.
