I picked up a couple more Milwaukee cordless tools this week. They are my first M12 tools. I do have 4 other M18 impacts and have been satisfied with them.

First one was the 3" compact cutoff kit Milwaukee M12 FUEL 3" Compact Cut Off Tool Kit - 24V, 4Ah, 4A, 1.5E+3 RPM, 3" Max. Chuck Size, Black/Red - Amazon.com which I used to trim the quarterpanel trailing edge for tire clearance. It was a speed demon on the job, but it got it done in reasonable time.

The second tool I got today at Home Depot, which is their latest right angle die grinder, along with a Red Lithium High Output XC 5.0 battery. The tool was $219 and the battery was $129. This is the Gen 2 version with additional power per the Torque Test Channel.

They have a new ultra compact M12 impact coming in 3/8 and 1/2 that is supposedly a total beast. Not the stubby that is currently out - even smaller.

Great to get into tight spaces or for working over your head where the big M18 high-torque gets a bit heavy.

Milwaukee makes great tools. I'm also impressed with Milwaukee battery shelf life. I keep this Milwaukee M18 chain saw and two batteries in my Jeep just in case it is needed out on the trail. It has been a year without use, so while checking everything over for an upcoming Rubicon trip I put the batteries in my Milwaukee charger and was surprised to see that they are both still fully charged, ... after a year.

I find the cut off tool and their version of the Dremel somewhat under powered. I don’t know if they heat up easily and have a thermal cut off, or if I have issues with mine. Both are good for light duty jobs as you say. Maybe I need to manage my expectations.

Yeah, it's definitely light duty. The fender trim was about the upper end of jobs for it. I actually was on the fence about going with a similar size 120v tool.

I haven't tried the right angle die grinder yet. But the Torque Test Channel video convinced me the Gen2 had enough power. We'll see. BTW, they did some battery comparisons on impacts and other tools and there are definitely big performance differences, and it's not as obvious as a bigger amperage battery. The one that seemed to be the high performer was the M12 Red Lithium High Output XC 5.0. It seemed to beat larger capacity batteries. I think it's the discharge rate.

Could've used one of those last Saturday, when @SadRobot led the run on Pleito Creek. We had a 14" ish tree across the trail near the dead end.
