I bought a set of trail rail tie downs for my cargo area the other week and I'm finally getting around to installing them, but I'm having a blind blond bat moment where I can't figure out how to install these.

There wasn't any included hardware so I just figured to use the original hardware. Only the bolt heads don't fit through and I tried sliding them in from the end and I have been able to find zero install instructions or diagrams. This all leads me to believe this is supposed to be hella simple and I'm missing something obvious.

you need bolts with smaller heads. put them in the drill and spin them on a grinder?

Yeah, I thought about doing that, but I only have an angle grinder and the nut to hold a disc onto it has mysteriously taken a walk..... 😒😒😒

I'll have to head into town in the next few days and pick up a replacement. In the meantime the bolts are long enough that I can have them finger tight sitting on the top of the rails to keep them in place so I put the cargo tub cover back in place.

I was just researching this. I wanted the Mopar mat for full coverage on the seat backs and the trail rail is something shown with it.

Someone posted a couple of issues and solutions for the install, but it was using Allen head bolts instead of panheads. But it looks like you have good bolts.

Can you get the bolts in their holes, then lower the track into position while tightening? Please keep us up with the install. I’d like to see the finished look.

Never mind, you can’t fish it in the hole if it won’t fit from the top.

Here’s the bolt size the poster used, M8-1.25 x 16mm Button Head Hex.

I think this is the ticket! A buddy directed me to the listing for these on quadratech and I saw the following.

Will be a few days before I'll be making another trip to town, but after I do I'll post pics and update....

Also for anyone wondering why I didn't know about the bolts: I have a guy at my dealership who gets me decent prices on parts I order from him, which is much less of a hassle than ordering online, especially because I live in 🇨🇦 with a rural PO box. None of the people I've spoken to there are big Jeep enthusiasts (when I put in my factory order, neither the manager who entered it in or the salesman I dealt with really knew anything about options, let alone were aware of new colour options that had been announced for the new MY....), so they wouldn't know to tell me any different/better.

Did you get it installed? I was able to piece mine together. It was a PITA, but I like it. I got the crossbar too, it holds my half door tops in place.

Once I got the screws and the hardware figured out yes, was a bit of a bitch to put the cargo tub flap cover back in place, but I eventually got it figured out and it's in there now!
