Hi guys,

Quick question, I am about to buy a premium soft top from someone and I just wanted to know what I should look for as far as what parts I should make sure are there before completing the purchase.

thanks!

Make sure all the roof rails are intact. If they are not, make sure you have the rubber gaskets and the bolts that connect the 2 parts of the rear door rails. Also make sure you have the bolts and plastic pieces for the rear corners as well as the rear rail that mounts on top of the tailgate. Check the condition of the windows as well as their tabs.

I think the question is: If you have and OEM hard top on you JL, will the OEM Premo softtop fit and work as is or do you need to buy all that you spoke of. I am getting ready to buy a premo soft top what else do I need???

No need to buy anything. It should come with everything you need and it’s an easy swap. Caution about the rear door rails - if it’s missing the gasket and bolts to connect the 2 pieces, you have to buy a whole door rail assembly…can’t just buy the gasket and bolts.

Should have the following:

  • Left and right roll cage mounting brackets, each with 2 bolts
  • Left and right front door rail, each with 2 bolts
  • Left and right rear door rails - 2 piece with rubber gasket each side, 2 bolts each side for gasket, and 2 bolts each side for rail
  • Left and right rear corner plastic mounts, 1 bolt each side - the windows and the rear rail connect to this
  • 1 tailgate rear rail - the bottom of the rear window secures to this
  • And of course, the top which also contains 2 bolts each side to connect to the roll cage mounts
I don’t believe I missed anything, but you can probably find the Mopar instructions somewhere online which will show what is contained with each soft top. That is all you need to mount this to your Jeep.
