Just received the small Mopar external speaker for my CB.
Where is a good place to mount it?

On a friends JK I mounted her Jeep speaker on the trim along the top of her windshield between her passenger side visor and the rear view mirror. Is this an option for the JL? Her radio body (Cobra 75) was mounted below the glovebox so it was an easy install but an extension cable would likely be needed.

I think you can mount it to the bottom of the passenger mirror, outside. That way, you won't get a response when you enter the key.
