Edit: I figured out the issue with the help of a fellow forum member who also owns a Willys. We discovered that I actually did NOT receive the correct clips for the seat backs. Instead, I received 10 extra clips of a different type that don't fit the seat backs. Once I got the correct clips for the seat backs, the Cargo Tray fit like it was supposed to.

I recently purchased the Mopar Cargo Tray (Mopar part: 82216627AB) from Quadratec for my 2025 JLU Willys. I was working on installing it today. I cut out all of the holes in the carpet on my back seat, but I couldn't get the plastic grommets installed. After measuring them, I realize there was no way these grommets were going to fit; the holes in the seats were slightly too small.

I was confused because the listing said it should fit my Jeep. I looked up the part number on the Mopar estore, and sure enough, the Sport/Willys trims are not listed in the fitment table for this part.

So I am assuming that the Rubicon/Sahara trims have a different design for the rear seats? Why would there be holes for the grommets in the Sport/Willys seat if the grommets don't fit?

Needless to say, I am pretty pissed about it because I already cut all of the holes in my seats. Now I am not sure what to do. The only saving grace is that, in theory, the factory gap hider would be a nice improvement, and for some reason, this cargo tray set with the gap hider costs LESS than purchasing the gap hider separately.

If I keep the gap hider, I could potentially use the rear cargo mat as well. I just can't install the mat for the back of the seats. Maybe I keep the gap hider and rear cargo mat and just get rid of the seat mats? If I do that, what do I do about the holes in my seat?

Really, I am just looking for advice here. Thanks in advance.

Ouch.

I've never been a fan of the Mopar cargo tray combo thing.

I get why it needs to attach to the seat backs for that "one piece" look when the seats are folded down, but between cutting the carpet on the seat backs and the weird way the gap hider works, I passed on buying it.

I'd contact Quadratec and see if they'd be willing to swap it out for one that is meant for the Willys, assuming there is one.

No sense in keeping something that only half works. Or just return it and get a regular cargo only mat. Mind you, I have no idea how you fix the holes you had to make in the seat back carpet. 😬

Thanks. I don't think there is a a similar part that fits the Sport/Willys.

The thing is, if I return it and get a regular cargo mat, I lose the gap hider (which I like) or I have to buy it separately, which costs more than just keeping what I got and getting rid of the part that I can't use. Still bummed because I have holes in the seats though.

Do you have leather seats?

Update: I decided to try using Velcro to hold the mats in place. It wasn't pretty, but then again, neither is having holes in the back of the seat. At least this way, I get the benefit of having the mats installed.

First, I used adhesive hook-side Velcro on the bottom side of the mats. Due to the design of the mats, there were only a few flat spots that I could actually use the Velcro. See images below.

This Velcro actually stuck to the back of the seats really well. So well, in fact, that when I initially tried it before the adhesive was fully cured, the Velcro wanted to separate from the adhesive side rather than the hook side.

I let the adhesive fully cure, and it seems to hold better; however, I would still be skeptical if I were planning on constantly removing the mats. Since the intent is to leave the mats in place, I think it will work. The hook side has no issues holding up the weight of the mats.

But...due to the placement of the Velcro, the edges of the mats were a bit floppy , especially the larger mat. So, I decided to try to secure the floppy edges with more Velcro.

This time, I used loop-side adhesive Velcro on the top side of the mats; I did have similar issues with placement of the Velcro on the top side as I did with the bottom side, as there were limited options with flat surfaces. I then used double-sided Velcro (hook on one side, loop on the other) to attached to the loop-side Velcro and the seat itself. See images below.

This seemed to (mostly) resolve the issue with the floppy edges. It isn't perfect, and I probably would NOT recommend anyone doing this to their Sport/Willys. I only did it because I already cut the holes in the seats. This is definitely not the clean/factory look that you get with the Saharas/Rubicons. That said, I will likely post updates in the future to see how they hold up over time.

Here is an image of the final product with everything installed (the gap hider that comes with the kit does hide some of the Velcro, fortunately).

Quick update: I found a fellow forum member who had this same cargo tray installed on their Willys with no issues. After some discussion, what we discovered is that I actually received the wrong clips, which is why the clips would not fit in the seat backs.

Did you receive/purchase the correct clips and install properly? Did you contact Quadratec back in 9/25 and ask about the fitment? Their fitment info doesn't specify trim level just 4dr JLU with cloth or leather seating. I've considered installing this item for back seat protection when folded down. Does it work otherwise as you expected? Thanks.

I only recently discovered this issue. I did reach out to recently; they are going to try to submit a warranty claim with MOPAR. TBD how that will turn out.

The fitment on MOPAR's website does list trim levels. It did not list the Willys, so that is what I thought the issue was. As it turns out, it appears that other people with the Willys trim have installed it successfully. I was unsuccessful because I received the wrong clips.

If you don't already have the gap hider for your seats, I think that alone is worth it because the gap hider costs more than this entire bundle does. Plus the rear cargo mat is useful as well, although it doesn't reach all the way to the wheel wells.

Update: Quadratec submitted a warranty claim with MOPAR and was able to get the correct clips sent to me. With the correct clips, the Cargo Tray fits like it is supposed to on my 2025 JLU Willys.

Side note, the Velcro idea that I posted earlier would not have held up over time. I removed the adhesive Velcro when I installed the seat back clips; the adhesive had already started to become weak, so it was actually really easy to remove, but definitely not a good long-term solution.
