I know you want permanently attached, but, I personally don’t want gear mounted to my spare 24/7. Too many sticky fingers in the world. I opted for AAL’s Spare Tire Platform, it’s lightweight, modular, easily mounted and removed. It has add ons to mount up rotopax, traction boards, axe, shovel, medical kits, dry boxes, all sorts of stuff if you have the imagination.Does anyone make a modular spare tire rack system where there are permanently attached brackets and then accessories attach to the brackets. Accessories like a rack above the tire, tool holders left and right of the tire, etc.
Ah. So you’d remove everything except the mounting bracket when not in use?I only want a permanently attached bracket (one that could not be removed if the tire is not removed).
The STP I mentioned above would work perfectly then. Plus you don’t have to fuss with installing a bracket of some sort behind your spare tire. Also, if you ever move up in tire size or change your wheel offset you won’t lose any compatibility.Yes.

Exactly. Regardless of what OP chooses he will need to reinforce his entire tailgate hinge setup. Even if running stock sized tires I would. It’s just not worth the risk of damaging the tailgate. If it's only hanging off the spare or tailgate you will very quickly encounter a tailgate weight limit problem. Stock tailgate and hinges are only rated for 85 lbs, which would include the spare and whatever else you mount.
