So, random next question: Where do women pee? Not much for forests to hide in? Thanks!
I know this reply is kinda late. As a life-long woman and practiced road irrigator I advise your girl to position herself next to the tire, with the Jeep between her and the GP. High clearance vehicles create a "window to the world" kinda deal anywhere else alongside. Other than that, there are lots of big rocks but watch out for snakes.
I wish we could've stayed a few more days... we just got back from Moab.
Question: What does BOH stand for?

Hi! I am planning on 1.5 weeks of wheeling with a friend this June. June 11-22 or so. I have some questions.

1. Can you tell me about how hot it really is? I am from Michigan. I get that its hot, but is it really that bad?

2. What's the best setup for the jeep? Id like to do doors and roof off. Is that doable? What about roof up but no doors? Or is that crazy and we need the AC? Will we get cold later in the evening?

3. Any other advice? Is there any equipment specific to the Moab environment I need to purchase?

4. How busy will the trails be in Mid June? Should we expect to be waiting in line for obstacles?

Thank you!
HOT as Hell itself, you are at 4000+ ft of EL and Hot and better slather the sunburn juice on yourself if you burn easily.

I take my doors and side curtains out and leave them in the Motel room.

What to build and bring: First trip, no trails 7+. You can get in SERIOUS trouble in a heartbeat. No shortage of challenges at the 6 and below.

I used to lead runs up to Moab, my runs were 7++. The following was my requirements:

LIFT: 2.5-3.5 Lift, nothing above or below. This is for the 7++ trails

Tires: 37 x 12:50 I recommend GY MTR or BFG KM2s, but any fresh high-end tire. At the 7+ trails tires are critical for success. At the 6 and below trails the 33 or 35 tire would work. What I like is a 33/35 tire and I run the GY Duratrac's 35 x 12:50. The Duratrac is the best overall tire for street and trail that I have ever used.

Recovery gear: 20+ ft Strap and a tree saver along with the shackles.

Winch: Any brand will do as long as someone has one. I don't require that any of the folks have one, I have one and I am the only guy that winches and does recovery.

"I came to race": Its an old racers term by those who come to win. I used to drag race back in the mid 60s. If you won your class you got interviewed and they always asks the question. What is your secret for winning> My answer was always: "I came to race" meaning I was full prepared.

That said: I never asked anyone to do this as I did...my kit had U Joints and U joint install kit. While I never had a failure, I often had to repair a u joint for one of the guys on my runs. My kit was U Joint, Install parts (Straps) with proper size socket.

Now take a look at your Jeep, its been around and you know it. Think back on any failures you have had and how you mitigated them.

Summers at Moab can bring light to heavy use on the trails. I have gone and been alone, gone a had to wait to run the trail. Meet down at the Grocery store parking lot to hook up with Jeepers from across the US. I lead one run and a guy came down from Seattle and another came from Maine.'

Eat at Zach's Pizza and there are a lot of other great places to eat and have fun.
