No I am sure they are not. I have a transponder on my windshield and it works. You do need to insure that its down just below theFrots that are on you center of your windshield and around the edges on some.

Frits: They are black painted enamel that bond the glass to the urethane adhesive and frame. These dots are there for safety and aesthetic purposes, and they help distribute temperature evenly to reduce optical distortion or lensing.

Nope, you will see metalized windshields in vehicles with very large, sloped designs, like some large sedans and minivans. They have a coppersish tone to them in full sunlight.
