Are there any drain plugs or cover plugs with a rare earth magnet?

But the drain plug would then hang down too far and get hung up on rocks. JK man (some drama going on on a geo correction bracket thread)

I’ve bought from these guys before. Not sure if I’m linking to the correct product or not but they have lots of sizes. I’d bet a quick email to them would clear up which one you need.

thanks. I didnt look at the covers close enough to know before giving them to the shop. That might be good enough.

im theorizing that part of the reason we see locker failures is because ferrous material from the gears gets attracted to the locker activation magnet and breaks the actuator. Im looking at running additional rare earth magnet near the drain to minimize the chances of this happening until i get around to potting the sensor.

The two diffs I pulled apart had shavings on plug-the magnetic locker post was covered w metal shavings and a grease lube pack

this was sub 5k

a stronger magnet is not going to relocate the crap off the locker to another magnet plug with any reasonable success.

my observation says the locker works best at getting the lower mass particles and the magnets at the bottom got the larger stuff

I will prob just clean it out every few services till I see it minimize some

not going to overthink it
