I installed a Magnaflow Street Series Axleback a year ago and had also cut out the stock resonator to replace it with MF's 5x5x14 round muffler (same one they use on the catback version). About a year of driving and the exhaust note sounds much quieter than what it was brand new. So I decided to drop the resonator down to a 4x4x14. While this increased the volume by about 5-10%, I lost a little depth. And was still hoping for more loudness.
Can any one explain to me the differences between length and diameter for these resonators? Im considering dropping it down even more to a 4x4x6 resonator that MF make, but this might make it too raspy or high pitched like a typical 4-banger.
I was also looking at other brands who make 5x5 in shorter lengths too. I loved the tone of the initial 5x5x14 but just wished it was a little louder. Not sure what my next move should be or if I should just call it done with the 4x4 I put on.
