I've heard this before too but haven't heard it in some time, it's sort of few and far between. I don't even know if I care and I HIGHLY doubt there is an air leak coming inside as everyone would feel air flow. It's probably related to Jeep redesigning aerodynamics a little. That and aluminum doors, which may flex a bit causing the pressure buffer noise.

Mine does this with the hard top on, depending on some other conditions (like a rough road). It is definitely unpleasant for my eardrums. I wonder if the very thin body panels are flexing.

Do you have the hard top on your 2018 JLUR? It’s definiely more of an unpleasant sensation to the eardrums as others have said, but wondering if it is an all JLUR thing?? Seriously contemplating having FCA just swap out the hard top for the soft top (when they are available) in hopes that will provide a lesser ear bashing experience..#JLURearbashing @jeepcare

My rubicon makes the same pressure sound as well, its quite annoying.
For all those with new JL’s with the Horrible on the ears (not just sound but pain) drumming pressure vibration issues, please create a case with FCA. This is what my dealership (Gurnee Jeep) told me to do to make FCA aware how widespread the problem is, and eventually recall the jeeps to rectify. We should not have to live with an awesome vehicle with such a fatal floor. Living in Chicago, I can only crack a window for half the year and I don’t want to go deaf over this... call ‭1 (800) 247-9753‬ FCA Customer Care Line to complete a case for this issue as I have done. Thanks and hopefully together we can get a fix for the issue...

Feels to me like it is the mid center roof panel. On rough roads when the pressure waves are significant, with my hand on it I can convince myself the panel is drumming at the same frequency .. and it's no Neil Peart!!

Of all the (potential) issues I've read about with the JL, this is the one that will keep me from ordering/buying until it's resolved.

Helmholtz Resonance happens, to a greater or lesser extent, in almost all cars and trucks.

From the article, "Air passing over an opening forms tiny tornadoes as it moves past the front edge of that opening. When those tornadoes, or vortices, reach the opening's back edge, they make a wave of pressure that pushes air into and out of the car. Since sound is nothing more than waves of pressure, this makes noise..."

Take a look at this;
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helmholtz_resonance

And this;
https://jalopnik.com/why-do-slightly-opened-car-windows-make-that-awful-soun-1447498738

Is this what everyone is describing/experiencing?

If so, it has a name - Helmholtz Resonance.
Yep, this describes the sensation accurately. I would be fine with it like in most cars/SUVs if this only happened when the back windows are down, but to have it happen all the time when the roof is on and windows are up in my JLUR is really annoying and bothersome...need some help on this one @JeepCares folks. As you will lose existing and potential new customers. I will give some serious thought to trading it in if Jeep does not provide some sort of relief/resolution. The TRDPro Toyota 4Runner will be my choice. Don’t want to do this, but will as I can’t live with this JL with this issue.

I get something similar in my Honda Accord due to the ventilation system. I can be at a stop at idle with the blower at full blast, windows up and I hear a low frequency rumble that hurts my eardrums. Honda put out a tsb and changed the design of the air exit valve flap located in the trunk. There are multiple complaints on the nhtsa website for this issue in the Accord.

Can you duplicate the rumble at a stop with blower on high?

Don’t blame you. Wish I was more diligent with my research and viewed these forums before buying...

For me it’s just when I am on the move, windows up and roof on.

I drove most of the way into work today with all windows up and on occasion just cycled the air...but I didn't notice any of the issue this time.

Just got a call back from Jeep Care about my case and they basically told me this is the first case that has been reported and there is nothing they can do because this is how the vehicle was made... what a joke. They said to take it up with the dealership regarding remedy for which there is none, or send a letter directly to 1000 Chrysler Dr, Auburn Hills, MI, 48326. I will be doing that but such a joke..
