It's winter here so the heater, heated seats and heated steering wheel are usually on.

The engine sounds like a tractor by design. It sounds like shit. Again, by design.I purchased a 4Xe with 13,000 miles on it and a still getting familiar with the quarks versus my 3.6L Wrangler. After 1000 miles of ownership I still can't understand why sometimes it is so loud at idle and sometimes during normal driving. I thought it might be the colder winter temps were causing it but even recent warm weather did not changle anything.
I was looking for a pattern that the loudness was more obvious.. But I can not determine a pattern. The engine sounds like it's high revving but it's not. After watching YT videos and searching the forum it is my understanding that the 4Xe has noises for coolants and other fluid/battery related items. Is this normal or should I take it in to the dealer for a check. Thanks in advance.
Good info all around. I feel better thanks to all the responses. The engine sounds like a tractor by design. It sounds like shit. Again, by design.
It's direct injection with two balance shafts. Lots of noises. It even has two engine covers to help mitigate it, which doesn't do much. The 4xe isn't much louder than any other 2.0.
Is your A/C or heater turned on when you start the vehicle?
If my A/C or heater is on when I start the vehicle, the Jeep sounds like a commercial fan is running under the engine for a minute or two before settling. If I turn it off, the 2.0 engine sounds normal (like a tractor as Alphawolf stated). For me, its always one or the other is on when i start up. How would this affect it?
Last Sept, I drove 2024 Sahara 4xe for a week in Nevada and I loved it. It was so quiet that I had to look at RPM gauge to tell if the engine was running or not. Two weeks I purchased CPOV 2024 Rubicon 4xe and the engine is loud, sometimes very loud. I was about to take it to the dealer to check it out when I saw your post. We had pretty low temps in the past few days, so maybe that's it.On cool mornings mine sounds like a lawnmower engine dying in a desperate attempt to move over 2 tons, but that quickly goes away. Once its warmed up, then it's a surprisingly quiet little engine sometimes I can barely tell when it powers on. Either that, or my hearing is worse than I thought.
