I finally found a solution for locked storage on my 392. It's a Tuffy 365-01 molle tailgate lockbox. The box holds at lot of stuff at 2 3/4" deep x 28" wide and about 12" high. Easy to install. I had to add some rubberized weather strip inside the box door to keep from rattling. The fold down table is a nice touch too...

Tuffy makes one with a solid door as well, if you don't like the open holes. The one with the solid door has dual locks too, if a little more security matters to you. It's nice, but just didn't offer enough storage space for my needs. I had one a year or so ago before I switched to a larger lockable storage drawer.

I'm just thinking about the inner dimensions of this box. Out of curiosity, what types of items will you seek to secure in there?

I think that I would have a similar problem with it not being big enough. But the wife is planning on getting a Bernese Mountain dog hopefully around the time our Jeep comes in and she plans on putting the dog back there. So a drawer won’t work for me. Does anyone know of a larger lockable tailgate box? I haven’t found one yet.

Yeah, but you also have to be careful about adding too much extra weight to the tailgate. So it's a balancing act.

I takes the place of storage that is lost in a 392 because of the exhaust routing. I'm able to fit tool kits and other recovery items in this box. It's a perfect place store firearms and ammo when that requirement is needed. Additional storage packs can be hung on the Molle grid, for me it's really handy.

In my case, I installed the Teraflex Alpha HD Spare tire mount/carrier, additional weight should not be a problem.
