Is there a way to lock the rear gate so it doesn’t unlock with the unlock buttons on the doors? I want to prevent someone from reaching in, unlocking the doors, and opening the rear gate to access the cargo storage. Is there a setting somewhere to lock the rear gate like the glovebox and console?

 I personally would not even tempt someone. If my doors and top are down I don't even bother locking it! Are you asking this because you want a tuff box or something like that in the cargo area? I'd have to look in the manual, but I'm not sure if there is an option. The only thing I can think of is disconnecting the wire inside the swing gate???

Edit: ok I googled your question, I think. And if you use the FOB it locks the rear and the rest will not unlock if someone just pushed the unlock in the Jeep. Try it and see.

Edit 2: ok I just tried logging mine and trying to unlock by using the lick/unlock switch inside the Jeep. It didn't work. Now I don't have proximity locks. So I can't answer for that. And damn it's cold outside. 11 degrees brrr

I hear ya but seeing how the JL cargo storage is designed to lock under the gate, it’s be nice to be able to lock it down with the gate, right? I keep tools and off-road gear in there.

OMG I just saw all my stupid "autocorrect" from my phone! What I was trying to write was that I locked the Jeep with the FOB. I tried to unlock by using the buttons inside the Jeep and they would not unlock. I don't have proximity sensor, so not sure if that effects it.

Whoa!! You’re correct. I just tried locking with proximity and same as you: the doors will not unlock by pressing the door unlocks. I guest I just assumed they would. Also, I tried opening the door with the interior handle and the alarm went off as you might expect. Sorry neighbors!

tl;dr: if you lock your doors with the fob or proximity buttons, the interior door locks won’t unlock the doors so you can secure items in the cargo area storage with the top off!
