LICENSE PLATE RELOCATE, WIRE SPLICE INTO TAILLIGHT

Hey everyone. My last question. I’m putting on the license plate relocation mount since I had ordered it before I found a harness and since I bought the kit I want to use it.
I am to the step where I have to connect the 2 wires on the kit (red and black) to the connector harness that’s behind the passenger tail light. I am using the Rough Country Relocation kit for JL. The instructions are fully detailed (for someone who this is a first time) so it comes with connectors. Am I going to cut the running wire already in the connector harness, and add the wire that came with the kit?
the instructions say: “Make Connections to the 4th and the 6th wires from the left, connect the supplied red wire to the 4th wire, connect the supplied black wire to the 6th wire.
can someone give me a little more instruction?

It's telling you to SPLICE into the harness, not cut it. You can either strip it and solder the wires in or cut the wires and solder them back together with the new splice. The second option allows you to properly heatshrink them.


To be clear, you're attaching the wires to the existing wires.
