The JL halogens are the best I've had in a vehicle. Ever. The high beams look like the KC Daylighter driving beams I had on my JK.

That said, they don't hold a candle next to the LED package. Pictures never do good lights justice.

Wish I would have seen this earlier, I could have got you a side by side shot comparison with my sisters Jeep Yesterday.

Anyhow, I don’t know why halogens are still even offered by any manufacturer. They are decades and decades old technology. The standard should be xenon headlights, then step up to LED for the upgrade. I believe it’s a safety issue by today’s technology and standards. Audi and BMW will be releasing laser headlights soon and the throw distance is incredible compared to LED headlights.

One of my biggest complaints about the earlier JK’s where the halogen headlights. You couldn’t see beyond 20ft in front of you. They were pretty horrid. I have the LED package and it is totally worth the money. It is so bright, it looks like I strapped a light God on the front of the JL as drive down the road. :giggle:

This is encouraging about the halogens since I'm most likely buying a Sport. I'm hopeful Jeep will offer LED package on Sport maybe for 2019.

It will be interesting to see how the IIHS rate the JL halogens and LED headlights. The JK LED and halogens both received "poor" ratings.

I have the halogens. The coverage is great. I never think about it. I do wish I had the LEDs for the cool factor. Functionally the halogens are great though.

Imo the LED group is a must for the JL, I really like how they brighten up everything at night. It makes driving at night easier and I feel a little safer because of the visibility and being more visible

If you’re planning on going on the QE or beyond Deadmonton, then you should probably get heated LEDs like TuckLites if you’re going to go LED, because the sticky snow we get especially on the West side, clogs up the standard LEDs pretty good.

There isn’t a current ‘JL’ version yet, but it’s likely only a matter of time for a universal 7” JL adapter for all the JK options.

There’s also HIDs (properly installed and aligned), which are great, but they require more salesmanship due to their higher price.

However, if you don’t think you’ll encounter much slush or snow build-up then the Mopar LEDs are great.

I was originally thinking about the heated Truck-lites, but the new JL stock LEDs look just too damn good to take off.

I understand, but with the amount of Slush and Hoarfrost I encounter, especially outside Fernie, Golden or Rotten Monkey Hut heading to/from Jasper, I need the heat.

I would still lean towards the Hella style HIDs even though I hate the look.

After 2 deer strikes in the passes (outside Crowsnest next to Frank Slide and just on the edge of Rogers just outside Donald) and 3 near misses in Montana (one in the old Mustang) and 1 in Wyoming coming across the flat fields by Jackson, means I’m more interested in function over form even if it looks ‘douchey’.

For now I use removable led cubes with variable rocker switches, and am considering at least a full swap of the fogs for LED driving lights in the JL depending on what options are available this fall/winter.
