Land Anchor for Snow

I often find myself driving around alone on the prairie, 20 miles from the nearest house, in a lot of snow when it's 20 below zero. I'd like to get a land anchor to get myself out of the snow drifts. No trees around to winch off of.

Any recommendations on one? I've watched a few pull pal videos and they look good. Any that work better for my application or store away better?

It would be a plus if I could mount it on the outside of the Jeep, as I typically have the inside filled with junk. Any that mount up well to a tire carrier or elsewhere?

I'm also in the market for a rear tire carrier. Considering the Teraflex and the Warn carrier attached to their elite bumper. Dunno if one of those is better suited. I could also see myself wanting to mount some water/fuel roto jugs.

Could get a couple of nice snow mobiles for that... but the jeep might be more fun and enjoyable to be inside!

I watched a canceled series on Prime about an off-road race through Alaska. Sounds interesting right!? It’s a good watch. Anyway, that land anchor didn’t impress.

The Pull-Pal is a great tool, have used one for many years. Snow, sand, mud, dirt, it works great when you have nothing else to anchor to.

They'll pull right through really soft snow, until they get down and anchor to something substantial.

One tip is to tie a rope on the back end of it, so you can easily pull it back up and out once you are done with your recovery.

I know you mentioned that a couple times. How do you expect to be "anchored" without digging? You could tie off to something that sits on top of the snow, but I don't think that would be much of an anchor.

Second the Pull Pal used to use one all the time in college playing with my square body suburban and a winch. Works awesome and easy to use. Only downsides are its large (about the size of a highlift) and you may have to dig it out after a recovery.
