Greetings,

my JLU is a daily driver and I already have quite a bit of kit in the back in various tubs and tool rolls, so it’s not so much about cost as it is about space. 30’ of line is pretty large volume

I’m thinking that maybe I don’t need a kinetic line and that buying a synthetic extension line for my winch might be a better purchase and be able to accomplish all the same things and even be better off for my vehicle recovery….just not as quickly as with a snatch line assist

I currently have a tree saver, snatch block, synthetic shackles and the OEM Mopar/Warn winch with the galvanized hook (which I’m thinking of swapping for the Agency 6 billet shackle)

anyone have any thoughts?

I ditched the tree saver and kinetic line and just have a quality 30' tow strap. Works as a tree saver and winch extension as needed. I'll take the kinetic line if I'm going somewhere where traction is a constant concern, other than that I haven't found much irreplaceable use for it.

My main line of thought is for getting me unstuck. I figure a winch extension line can be an additional 100ft at like 5lbs and I could be in more reach of an anchor that way or even purchase another block and have much more pull capacity or fairlead angles

I'd make the decision on whether you solo or not. Kinetic is useless solo, but a quick tug is preferable to a winch pull if you are in a group.

Yeah I mostly solo and I think kinda the same thing. Kinetic was mainly a thought to have as a quick option for myself or assist others, but it’s not worth the added cargo volume I think

Kinetic recoveries trade convenience and speed for safety; I think it's wise to avoid them wherever possible.
I share this unpopular opinion but will play devils advocate - The terrain you're wheeling in may make one choice more or less practical. I'm usually not alone and also usually not somewhere absent of anchor points.

Agree unless it’s just a really quick and short tug that is needed
