Help! lol my clutch is awful. I’m waiting for a recall on the clutch. Will that fix the problem? Stalling this MFer all the time. I’ve been driving manuals for 40 years. Thinking about aftermarket clutches.

Clutch recall is replacing it with the same part. Aftermarket solutions do exist, check the massive thread about the recall and there's a ton of info in there about that. It basically turned into an aftermarket clutch discussion thread.

My solution since I don't have the money for an aftermarket clutch was a slightly louder exhaust. If I can hear the motor, I can shift it properly regardless of clutch feel.

The ultimate fix is a heavier flywheel and the ACT clutch replacement. The recall won’t do that, though. I only have 14K on mine and don’t spend a lot of time worrying about becoming a rolling ball of flame so in the meantime just for kicks I tried the ten dollar weaker return spring (from ACT). That made a big difference in the “feel” of the clutch for me. Takes seconds to replace so if it doesn’t work out for you it’s easy to swap back.

So I have a JT and one thing that really helped me was turning off the hill assist. Might want to check that and see if that helps you. I’m not new to manual transmissions but I had a hard time with mine until I did that. I don’t know if it’s something about feel or what, but I actually prefer to have it roll back slightly.

It’s a setting in uConnect. Easier and cheaper than replacing the clutch, ha ha.

I just got my jeep back with that exact clutch and wow talk about the best investment I have made.

Which act clutch kit did you buy? After
Sifting through all these options,
Each brand has several options to choose from. Some include this and that… thanks for your response

THIS ^^^^^

Turning "hill assist" off made all the difference in the world to me, I've been driving MTs for 30 years and my JL made me look like a newbie until I turned this off. The clutch on the JL is certainly "unique" but after 2.5 years and 25K mi I've gotten quite used to it.

I know, just had my 2024 Sport 2 dr MT delivered last week and I was stalling it and looked like a newbie, finally going through all the settings and found the hill assist turn off- hopefully this makes a difference like you said.

I just saw this posted in the recall thread (or somewhere related to the recall). In what way does it change the feel?

Well for starters it actually gives you clutch feel at all. The stock clutch is so light that you don't get any feedback at all. That's why people keep stalling it, because you can't hardly tell if it's engaged or not by feel alone.

I got my ACT clutch spring sitting here but the garage isn't above freezing yet...I'm going to be putting it in and my tazer at the same time when it warms up a bit more. My hope is that I will only have to contort myself once under there to do both things. Here's to hoping the new clutch spring does something but so far most people think it does a pretty good job and for about $20 shipped but I'm going to find out myself here soon.

I’m in the same situation. Will post my findings.
