A couple of things. As mentioned, the windshield that flattens made it a greater challenge for FCA to release this functionality at JL launch. Talk is they are working on it.
Also, I read in the in the manual that the intermittent wipers, while not sensitive to the speed of rain, are sensitive to the speed of the vehicle.
