I have had the Z case fuse fried twice with having my amp/subwoofer connected to the main battery terminal and the ESS engaging at a red light.
When this first happened I unplugged the sensor (right side of the hood) like the YouTube videos showed and went on my way, no problems.
About a year later (few weeks ago) my jeep was shutting off while driving when I came to stops. All the electrical stuff went wonky and would take about a minute to reboot. The local dealership did the costly inspections and said I needed a new AUX battery and to replace the IBS (Intelligent battery system)
the orange (A) warning sign went away when I changed the aux battery and still waiting to get the IBS…
yesterday I drove to work and didn’t hit the manual ESS switch off (6am and just not fully awake) and fried that fuse the second time. Already got it fixed that night since I’ve already made this mistake.
my question is there a way to hookup the battery without being connected to the ESS or is taking out the ESS sensor plug on the right side of the hood the only way around this?
Ideally since I am replacing the IBS (used for ESS and some other battery stuff apparently) I’d like to be able to toggle off and on the ESS without it frying that z case fuse when I forgot to hit the ESS by having the battery connected to power that’s not interfered with the ESS engaging or not
furthermore is there a way to flip the ESS button to being AUTO ON when the jeep is turned on? That would be super convenient… I know other other vehicles are like this.
thanks!
