Hello everyone. New to the forum but had jeeps forever.

Searched around to see if someone else posted ab6issue but came up empty. Trying to see if my newest JL issue is a common problem or normal.

Jeep shuts off and dies if it is on a hill and rolls back while in drive. Jeep does the same thing when backing up in reverse and you let it roll forward it dies. (Automatic)

Any help or input would he appreciate.

why would it roll back. I thought there was something that kept it from rolling back on hill when in drive.

JK did this too. Its to protect the transmission. If you are on a steep hill, the effort to hold it in place is more than supplied by the trans. So give it some gas and dont let it roll back if on a steep grade.

In other words, its a feature not a bug.

Mine would kind of stall out on the hills. Basically when not getting traction the system would stall, not die, and I would essentially have to roll down. I could get power back but once I lost momentum it was too late.

The Jeep shouldn't roll back. I believe they all have the Hill Start Assist.
On their Site-
Hill Start Assist
Great for off-roading and steep urban streets, Hill Start Assist helps prevent your 2018 Jeep® Wrangler from rolling backward when starting on an uphill slope.

Yes but this feature can be disabled in Uconnect. Essentially what it does is holds the brakes while you take few sends to let off the brake and apply throttle.
