A few nights ago I was driving home with my family. In the middle of an intersection my JLU stalled and the D or the P started flashing and egine would jusr rev up but wouldnt go. So I made a full stop put the car in Park. Then I put it back in drive and all was well. Then about 5 miles down the road I stopped at a stop light and it dit it again. This time I no longer was able to move the gear from Park to Drive. So I pushed the start/stop button with no results. After pushing the button a few times it just started turning over and over again without having the car turn on. It eventually stopped. Then I got out of the car locked it with my key fob and tried to start it using the key fob. Again nothing. Then I unlocked the car gor back in tried turning it on and this time bang it turned on. I made it to my driveway which was a few miles away. Soon as I got there I had the car in Drive and the engine kept reving by itself. I do have a video of that. The next morning I took it for a drive and everything was fine. Anyone have this issue? If so what did you do or what did the dealership due to fix it?

Was the driver's seat belt on? I ask because what you are describing sounds like the "Auto Park" feature may have engaged, and although it should only engage with the driver's door not fully closed and the driver's set belt off, I have had it engage once with the door closed, but the seat belt was off. See below for the conditions for the Auto Park to engage. When the AutoPark is engaged, the D and the P flash and even though the vehicle is in D, it behaves like it is in P - i.e. will rev OK, but go nowhere, until you move to P and then back into D.

Thanks for the info Tmac. My seatbelt was on I was stopped at a red light. It just went nuts on me for no reason. It has to be some
Sort of electrical issue. Even after that when I got to my drive way the engine was reving up and down all by itself. It was going from half rpm to 1 rpm. I have a video I dont know how to post it on here from my iphone.

Upload your video to Youtube first, then copy paste the link in your post and it automatically embeds the video for you.

Did you ever get this fixed? This happened to me the first day I brought home my new Jeep. It scared me to death. I was at a stop sign, ESS kicked in, I stepped on the gas to pull out, Jeep stalled and slowly rolled out into a busy street. I didn't have any steering. Rolled across 4 lanes and up onto a sidewalk. The Jeep had 12 miles on it. Check engine light came on. Back to the dealer we went. They messed around with it for 2 days. The only thing that fixed it was taking out the fuses and plugging them back in. I never had a problem since.

No I never got a chance to take it to the dealership. I’m waiting for it to happen again. I don't know if it was a one time fluke or something that will happen often. Im starting to turn off the ESS feature as thats what I had done when that happened to me. I really hope they figure this out because its a major safety hazard.

My 2¢... do NOT just wait for it to happen again with regards to contacting the dealership. How long have you had the Jeep? There have been updates and factory installation issues that dealers have been addressing since they rolled off the lot. Get it in ASAP whether it's running fine right this second, or not.

I bought it right after Christmas 2018. So had it for about 4.5 months. Thanks for the advice.

How are they going to figure it out if you don’t bring the car in?

Hi I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. I stopped in because I had a very similar issue today only I was driving. I was slowly rolling through a parking lot selecting my spot when it felt as if it was confused as to what gear it should be in. Then I looked down and the D was flashing. The dash said to put it in park and then select my gear. Is this a common issue? I have only had my Jeep a week (300 miles). What should I tell dealership?
