Wondering if anyone here owns another vehicle from the Jeep family? Cherokee, Compass, Renegade. My wife will be looking to replace her Edge soon, and would prefer a “typical” SUV. Do these stable mates share any parts with the Wranglers? Toughness, durability? The Liberty I recall was a dud, the Grand Cherokee doesn't do anything for me. The new little Renegade looks like it could be fun.

Traded my 16 Cherokee for a 2018 JLUS wrangler and much happier with it. The Cherokee had too many rear drive issues and too many fault lights for my taste. I hope they fixed some of those issues because it was a fun SUV to drive.

My mom has had a Renegade for about a year and loves it. I haven't heard of any issues she's had but see that it's rated as the least reliable Jeep by Consumer Reports maybe? One of those orgs anyway.

My wife is on her third Grand Cherokee with no big issues but you said those don't do anything for you, so...

My wife likes the new Subaru Crosstrek. Looks like a perfect wife car, easy to park, roomy for a small thing, good all wheel drive (for what it is, obviously not rock crawling.. .which my wife is not doing)

Edge is really hard to beat for hauling stuff, esp big dogs. She wants something smaller at some point (kids in college)

I have a 2005 Jeep Liberty. It's awesome and contributed to my JLUR purchase. My 2010 Nissan Rogue was the most boring vehicle I ever owned and I had the Liberty as well. Both comparable in size. Liberty was fun, Rogue was not. Rogue is gone and now the Liberty has a big brother. :like::jk::like:

As far as the Parts, Toughness, Durability quotient, the Renegade is built in Italy. It shares about 60% with of it’s parts with the Fiat 500X. Two engines, the smaller engine is a Fiat and the larger engine is made by Chrysler, depending on trim. 160/180 hp, respectively. If your wife likes the Edge, the Renegade may not offer the power and room in comparison. “Fun,” maybe not so much.

I would say the Cherokee is worth checking out if you've already vetoed the Grand Cherokee, but want something with decent enough room like the Edge.

My wife has a 2017 GMC Acadia Denali. It’s been great. Gets about 26 mpg down the highway with the 310 hp v6. We both love the car. The captains chairs in the second row and the fold up third row make it a great family car for young kids or taking four adults.

I know this will be a rare opinion, I am pretty good at wrenching around my cars and JL, and it actually became a hobby of mine. But if your wife is like mine, she just perfers moving from A to B....my wife drives a highlander, my daughter drives a CRV, pretty boring but reliable AF.
