Let me give you an example; you're driving two girls home, and get stuck in the snow, you look for your recovery gear in the back of the jeep truck, but can't find it. You ask the girl sitting in the back but she's frozen solid. You pry a note from her frozen hand. It says, I threw out your recovery gear, there's no phone signal, I hope you get stuck in the snow and you both freeze to death! ;)
Jokes on you! I don't even own recovery gear and know damn-well that if I did, somebody would end up injured and the night would end with a tree on my Jeep.

But the two hot chicks scenario, yeah, that's just another Friday night, right? 😁

And the "correct" answer, besides saying "on my face" (joking!) is to have her sit on her friends lap w/seat lowered and maybe reclined while you drive carefully in the snow. Seems a lot safer/warmer than telling her to get in the bed of the truck. Now I'm wondering how bikers, 2-seater sportscar drivers and pickup truck owners in the 80s dealt with this common dilemma.

80’s- hmmm, when did the monstrosity knee banger consoles become common ? My 95 PU has a split bench, they are still available on lower tier models like XLT down for Ford last I checked. You could fit 3 across in a pinch with buckets in other vehicles when no tall console is in the middle. MC, just one at a time and hold tight to keep warm and find a warm spot to put your hands if needed 😎 heck, I had a metal center box with a seat level padded lid in my 63 MD….. never had it properly occupied to “have too” split every gear with the well placed for the situation OD shifter. 😃

I want one just to experience how bad they really are.
Picture it... a parking lot in Detroit, 3am in 1983. Just my Jeep and a Yugo in the parking lot. I walked up and looked at the Yugo and thought that with the new Tonkas (small car nickname at the time) that were coming out it didn't seem too bad. I stood there for a minute, everything was quiet, and the twilight fell off (the Yugo, not the Jeep). 😂

Lol, yeah, I completely forgot about bench and split-bench seating! Used to drive my dad's early-to-mid 90s Ford Ranger as a youngster and iirc, his had front bucket seats but can't remember if it had the fold-back center armrest or a fixed console/cupholder. Don't recall any rear seating and if so, I don't see how it would be possible for anyone to fit.

It's been a long time, but I vaguely recall that a dozen or so scantily-clad babes could easily fit. 6 in the bed, 3 in the cab, 1 on the roof and 2 climbing up the hood just to get a piece of the action 😂

I thought it was the pacer. One good hit in the rear end and you would get all new windows.

I got stuck once all the way to Sacramento from Cedar Valley (N E corner of Ca) in the middle of my friend’s Toyota PU, it sucked, but I survived…. I hate the huge consoles in the new PU’s that are standard on the upper tier models. Knee bangers with nowhere to stretch your leg out on long trips. Even big rigs, the center dash goes to the floor eliminating leg room. On the road all day every day with nowhere to stretch your leg 👎

Lol, and that was my very first chick magnet! The Pinto Wagon could actually fit a ton of people. 3 up front, up to 4 in the rear and at least one in the back. Looking back, I'm still not sure if I should be thankful that my dad handed it down to me for fixing up the bodywork with him, or if giving your teenage kid an exploding car was willfully negligent parenting 😁 (was, and still am incredibly grateful to have had any set of wheels!)

Back in the day, my Dad bought one, he said he saw one upside down on the highway and none of the windows broke! I asked him if he bought it because it was upside down on the highway, and he said, No, because none of the windows broke! Got to love that logic!

... Is this an are 4drs a real Jeep thread ?
Let me answer that question this way... When I bought my current Jeep, it wasn't with the idea of buying a Jeep. (That was what the TJ was for.) I bought it to replace my (then) recently departed Gen II Bronco. They do, after all, weigh within a couple hundred pounds of each other. Horsepower notwithstanding, that bone-stock Bronco was a vastly superior off-roader than the current Jeep.

That said, when designing the current bloated pig that is the JL Wrangler, FCA should have just built it on the 2500 Ram chassis and called it a day.

Hey, few months ago I saw a 2 door Chevy Tahoe 🤩 It looked like that Bronco. Big 2 door vehicles must be a thing in those days.

Besides the length and bed, the qualities of the wrangler and Gladiator are practically the same. You can’t even tell whether it’s a JL or JT when it’s approaching you from the front so most of us normally wave. There are Jeeps and Jeep branded vehicles. I would def put the JT in the Jeep category compared to the other models.

Also, just like a wrangler - if you aren’t off-roading, don’t buy a JT as there are SO many better options for street queens.

If it says Jeep, but the top and doors do not come off, it is not a Jeep. It is a Jeep brand vehicle...

With the Pinto Station Wagon, having the back seat folded down, was like a single bed in the back. I once had 13 people in my Pinto Station Wagon. Side note, the Pinto Station Wagons didn't explode when rear-ended. That was the hatchbacks. The Station Wagons had the gas tank mounted flat, not vertical by the rear axel like the Hatchbacks...

My ‘01 “Jeep brand” WJ. It has solid axles, Dana 30 front, Dana 44 rear. And 4L. As far as off-road ability, it’s about the same as a JLU Sport. But mines a V8. 😉

It’s quite flexy for a minivan.
