sounds like they were sinking long before any tariffs, sounds like just another excuse for poor performance.

I’m not a fan of our current trade policies, but this was entirely a situation created by Stellantis. The current trade policies just accelerated Stellantis’s issues, which was mainly not listening to their customer base.

When they pushed to change their products against their base customers desires and pricing exceeded most people’s expectations what did they think was going to happen. I don’t think it would be hard for them to recover from this, but they need to come up with a strategy that develops products that are in tune with their customers wants and needs. It also wouldn’t hurt if they revamped their customer care approach.

Another case of MSN being MSN.

"Marelli... ...had been struggling financially for years."

But yep, it's someone else's fault.

" ...many manufacturers, including Stellantis, are facing lower-than-expected demand."

Gee, I wonder who was pushing this despite being told demand wasn't there. But yep, definitely someone else's fault.

This may just be an issue of a company needing to be put out of it's misery anyway. But I can see how the progression of Covid, EV mandates, cancellation of EV mandates and ever changing tariff numbers took it's toll.

The back and forth and uncertainty is incredibly damaging to all these manufacturers as it is nearly impossible to budget production in this atmosphere. Changing projections weekly based on the topic that week is no way for anyone to do business, especially in the automotive industry.

There are a lot of people stuck in denial about the current trade "policies" and how damaging they actually are. Stellantis wasn't a healthy company to begin with, but these policies are weighing extremely heavy on one of the US' biggest industry: vehicles. IMO, wanting to build more vehicles in the US isn't wrong at all, but there are planned and methodical ways to incentivize the industry and ease its way (help) instead of haphazardly throwing around extremely volatile language and punitive policy that ends up costing us years of economic growth and potentially a few of our automakers.

I think we can agree despite some shared goals about US production, the execution of all this strategy is harmful and poorly done. We want our automakers to thrive, and Canda and Mexico have long been extremely valuable trading partners and allies of our US auto industry and I don't think they should suffer in this either. Stellantis can't just remake itself overnight to exclude them and all the business they do there, no automaker can. That's antithetical to free market principles, and we don't do kings here in the US.
