I have a dual battery kit and want to locate the IBS in a location where the existing cable doesn't quite reach. Is there any sort of extension-cable available? I'm hesitant to splice in my own wires to the existing cable (I really prefer to keep all electrical changes reversible for troubleshooting purposes), so what I really need is something like a pigtail for both connectors on which I can add the appropriate length wires.

None... but it pays well.
The ibs can be mounted anywhere there is ground. Just remove it from negative battery terminal and mount. No need for an extension.

Check out my ibs with ibs thread. It may help with charging issues.

The issue is that with a https://www.genesisoffroad.com/gen3-jl-dual-battery-kit, the IBS gets installed in between the accessory battery and the 'shared ground' between both batteries, which doesn't give it a good view of the actual SoF/SoH of the cranking battery. One thought is to install it on the neutral terminal of the cranking battery, but this ideally needs a cable extension to route it well.

Ground is ground no matter where you connect. The management system does two things. It isolates aux from starting circuit while allowing it to power the accessories during stop start. That part is separate from charge circuit. The charge circuit will properly charge both aux and main batteries as long as they are same type... AGM. No switching between them to charge. The reason for IBS to be mounted on ground terminal is that it is considered direct ground. Nothing to cause a disconnect state or compromise ground. Unfortunately I found that the mounting of the IBS is not fail safe, as corrosion will take place. Measurements are done at the power side. Which is through the wire you want to extend.

If what you are thinking was true to relocation, then you would also have to take in place the total resistance with pigtail causing improper sensor readings.

There are a number of users with the dual battery setup, and none have had to make an extension.

Curious how you handled this. While I've had the Genesis for years, that dang negative lead bundle routing gets in the way of the dipstick and is stretched pretty tight. I'd like to add a length of cable.

From what I've read, I can unbolt the battery terminal clamp on the end of the IBS and bolt on a length of cable with a battery terminal clamp on the other end. Is there any concern for affecting the IBS adversely?

The whole problem ended up being a 'loose ground' somewhere; the repair ppl didn't tell me exactly where.

My battery terminal clamps don't fit the FullRiver battery terminals well. They have a steep taper that is different than the clamps. So my negative clamp slides up it. The routing of that negative cable is really a nuisance as well as riding up against other components. That's my reason for wanting to extend it.

If your just replacing the IBS bracket with a cable, it shouldn't affect the functionality of the IBS.

Thanks Jerry. Any recommendation on wire gauge?
