instructions on shifter knob removal

For those who would like to know how to remove transfer case shifter knob.

Take small flat head screwdriver and in the corner of the boot put it between the console and the leather and pry it up, it will pop up. Then lift boot up over knob exposing the torx set screw. Once that’s removed the knob ad boot will come off together. Then remove the 4 Allen screws from chrome trim ring and remove it. Turn knob upside down you’ll see a black plastic sleeve in center, that’s attached to the knob, take screwdriver and put in slot and pull the knob from the white plastic the set screw was in. This part is the hardest part just keep prying and pulling they will come apart. Hope this helps.

I replaced my transfer case shifter knob when I posted this thread back in October 2018.

Hi. Is there a threaded shaft that you will attach the new knob to once you remove the transfer case knob?

The shifter isn’t threaded under the factory knob. But I used a tap and die kit and threaded it to except the new knob.
