Installing tint

Currently not so patiently awaiting my JLU Sahara, was wanting to install some 15% tints.
Would it be worthwhile to do it myself vs having a pro do it?
How hard would it be to get the back tints to match the front, would I have to remove factory tints or just go over them?

If you live in a decent sized city or near one, it’s almost always a better choice to have a competent pro do your window tint. Skip the hassle and potential to screw it up. Get a lifetime warranty. Around here it’s about $225 or so for high quality tint and workmanship, $75 for junk. IMO it’s a small price to pay to not have to fool with it.

$225 isn't bad at all. I was doing a bit of research and a couple places around will even come to you and do it. Prolly just go that route.
Anyone have any experience with having darker tints and getting in trouble with police?

It depends on so many factors as to whether or not cops will give you grief over dark tint. What the legal limit for tint is, where you live, what neighborhood you happen to be in, how loud and obnoxious your music is, how fast you are driving, how old you are, how you interact with the officer, whether you’re black or not are all factors in whether you’ll get pulled over or not, and whether you get a ticket or not. YMMV.

I have 20% all around on both my car and my truck for the last 10 years or so and have been stopped for it once but not ticketed. I have had 2 other police encounters where they stopped me for something else and mentioned it but didn’t issue a ticket. I live in Texas where 25% or lighter is legal.

I paid $100 to a professional to have the front done to match the back. He came to my house and knocked out two cars in 40 minutes. $100/car to be clear.

That's factory tint on front and back? Seems darker than I imagined factory would have the backs

The front was tinted to 20%. The back is factory which I believe is close to the same.

PS...I think the tint made an even bigger difference on the other vehicle which was recently wrapped from black to Matte Metallic brown, all the chrome to black and the silver wheels were powder coated black.

Especially since I hope to have the top and doors off often on only one of these.

The car was a big project. The window chrome, grill, vents, logos, roof rails, door handles and more were all chrome to black and that portion was $1,500. Powder coating wheels was $500. The wrap itself was $2,500 including fixing some scratches.
