Installing a winch in a stock front bumper

I saw a post yesterday where a fella had put a winch into a stock JL bumper. Has anyone else seen this? He had a great description and pictures, and today I can’t seem to locate it anywhere, search function is useless.

I remember seeing that thread somewhere. It seemed like a good idea, but by the time you buy that bracket you can get a fairly inexpensive bumper for what it's gonna cost. I really didn't like how he cut the top of the bumper. It had that gap in the plastic. You won't regret buying a real winch bumper.

I like the look of the stock bumper, so I was excited to see that someone had put a winch on a stock bumper. danimalftw found two posts for me and it was the second one that I had seen. I haven’t ruled out a different bumper, but I don’t want to change too much of the basic look Just yet.

I understand. Thats the good thing about Wranglers when it comes to mods. No two are the same. I looked at stock steel Mopar bumpers, but I couldn't justify the price so I went with an aftermarket winch bumper.

I would say I will sell you a stock steel bumper and Warn winch plate but I imagine shipping would be crazy

I’m actually hoping To find a stock steel bumper. I see a lot of Jeeps with aftermarket bumpers, so I know, one day, I’ll come across someone that says, “yeah, I’ve got one in my garage; yours if you want it.“ ?
