Does anyone have experience brining a US Wrangler to Canada? I need permanent DRLs to comply with the law but dealer failed to activate them and has been waiting for a response from FCA since last Wednesday. Supposedly after activating them and updating the software, the switch is all messed up now. Didn’t have this issue at all with my 2023 Ram.

2023 Wrangler Willys Sport (halogens).

We just brought a 2020 JLUR up ... It was a bigger pain than it really should have been.. It was a manual and with the 19A Recall, it sat in the driveway for six months before we could get that dealt with. And then removed the lift, basically returned it to stock but once that was done, the RIV and local Safety inspections were easy.

Now.. our Rubicon has the LED lights so maybe that's why we didn't have a problem with the DRLs, I just changed the setting in the Radio options to turn on DRL.

If the dealer isn't helping, I might suggest getting yourself a Tazer or JSCAN and seeing if you can do it yourself.

Oh.. one warning. Canadian Tire will automatically FAIL your RIV inspection if the Jeep is lifted. Technically they are suppose to only care if the lift can't be removed (ie.. no welded on long arm brackets) but the inspector I talked to said that they've been told to fail ALL lifts.

I wonder if I told the dealer to upgrade or to LEDs if that would make the issue go away. I wouldn’t mind having brighter lights, anyhow. Amazing that this is an issue. I don’t even care which lights function as DRLs… just want it to be in compliance.

No lift kit to worry about… it’s all stock except a full width steel bumper and winch.

Yeah it's a good question. But they would still have to program something to turn on the DRLs so not sure it really helps.

I would imagine that the dealer has this tool (or something better). Alas, they messed it all up and we are in limbo awaiting a response from corporate support.

The automatic position light is probably what is screwing it up.
In any case you can play with the drl setting using OBD Jscan.
Personally i would just run it as is until a figure of authority stop me.
Worse case run the position light manually as DRL

So! It took a FULL week and a lot of back and forth between the tech and FCA to figure out how to enable full time DRLs on my 2023 Willys. Here's what the tech wrote:

"Tried to add DRL options to list, had to email Chrysler and get them to add option to VIN, then I can perform updates. Talked to Chrysler back and forth, was able to get them to add options and updated configuration. System now passes tests and DRLs work fine".

It looks like the halogens are basically on low power (not that they're ever bright).
