While installing my GMRS radio I found the dealership installed babysitter. Passenger foot well, under carpet, center console area. It's a GPS device for Pursuit. It was a service offered and declined during purchase. Obviously it was pre-installed and left there.

Fearing any negative complications I did not disconnect and remove it. Asking if anyone has seen this particular device and can I simply disconnect and remove it. Feel like I should be able to but theres lots of wires and I didn't feel like tracing them all when I found it. Had a trailhead to reach.

Thanks for any quality responses. I reserve sole judgement on which qualify as quality...

I searched "proplme" pursuit keyless entry and got this manual:

Users-Manual-2346264.pdf

It looks like they have two options for installation: Dealer Lot Mode or Interior Theft sensor.

If it's the former, it appears to be tied into a bunch of stuff (door locks, lights, horn, etc).
The orange going to a starter interrupt I think means you can't just unplug it. Although it may be worth trying that just to see if everything still works.

Finding that would really tick me off, doubt you'll have any success getting them to uninstall it.

At the end of the manual is Voxx Electronics customer service number: 1-800-225-6074
Good luck

Some digging: Voxx International item. Called and spoke with someone, sound slike a one man show. PRO PL ME (how he pronounced the product code) is an add on alarm item to the Jeep factory alarm. He said just to unplug it. Probably doing little more than parasitic battery drain. I'm still a bit hesitant. Think I'll drive to the dealership parking ot, unplug it there, and if it fails blame the 4xe system like everyoine else.

I would be curious on how much of that they connected. I would certainly trace the wire back. Maybe all the wires except power and ground are not connected.

Like @BDinTX said, you could always unplug it and see if everything works.

The wires are camouflaged in loom. That deterred my investigation when I saw it. I'm simply afraid of unplugging, immobilizing, and having a large (pretty) grey brick. Not sure reconnecting it would enable everything again under worst case circumstances.

I had one of those on a car once, same situation. It was a few years ago and it looked a little different so maybe a different model.
I unplugged it and tossed it in the trash. No issues

Yeah, just follow the loom back. The system seems very simple and modern vehicles are very complex. I would bet most of the wires are just tied back and not connected. The dealership probably did the least amount of work to sell it as a "thing".

EDIT: Seems to be a starter kill not a GPS device, the owners manual doesn't mention GPS at all. If it was my vehicle, I'd have the dealer uninstall it or DIY. I'd probably DIY to see the quality of any splices and repair if necessary. I guess it is made by the company formerly known as "Audiovox".

Is the vehicle paid off? These devices are installed to make sure you pay the bill, otherwise the dealer will remotely shut down the vehicle, track it down, and repossess it.

I have to diagnose a “no start” condition about once every 6 months for this. It’s always fun to make that call.

FYI ... my son bought a used 2024 JLRU with this unit installed by the original selling dealership. We took it and all of the wiring off two days ago with no adverse problems. His Jeep started and has shown no problems. Unit goes in the garbage tomorrow.

The other thing that is slimy is some of the dealers charge you for the tracker during the finance process. Here…have an extended warranty, windshield replacement and here add this tracking device. If someone steals your Jeep we can find it…(or if you don’t pay your bill)…

People don’t pay close enough attention and some slick fast talking finance guy talks you into paying for all kinds of non sense.
