There are a few if you search nationwide. Most manuals and 2 door, I found 1 automatic 4 door.
Autotrader keyword "4.88"
Yeah, I was looking for mileage and year first and then I wanted some options like aux switches and alpine audio too. I didn't even think about gears honestly.

Instead of factory ordering a ā€˜24, I decided to look for a used one. I found this in Pasco, WA for about $7k below market value!! Only 9,500 miles on it! I made the deal and got on an airplane. My sales guy was waiting at the airport for me with my new Jeep. It was a 4 hour drive home.

2022 Rubicon. 3.6l, 6MT, 4.88 gears. Bonus: Tazer included!
Dang, that's terrific. This is exactly what I wanted to do in 2021, but at that time everything used was going for brand new prices. So I ordered one from the factory. Love the 2-door!

I was looking for several months and lost out on a few but patience paid off. I paid $38,500 for my 2022 with 13k miles. Original sticker was $63k. It has 2.5 years of warranty left which was important to me.

New even with the incentives are in the $50k range for less equipment. Bonus for us was getting the green because our 2008 Green Commander with 163k miles died. Hopefully it works out well.

I'm looking at a 22 XR now for about $40k, much more bang for your buck than the 24's.

Jealous. I've been looking for one with 4.88 gears but I haven't seen any advertised. Enjoy it!!
Which models came stock with 4.88's ?
Other than rock crawling(general offroading) and not needing to regear when installing larger tires... what are some more positives to 4.88's ?

Also

I didn’t even know initially; until after I started taking to the ford salesman & he sent me a detailed email! Then I kept me mouth shut about it. ;)
Why the secrecy ? Afraid of a price increase... why are 4.88's more sought after ?

It was an option that started in 2022 and not many people pick it. Many dealers don't even notice gear ratio so it's often not advertised. The big draw is running larger tires and better towing.

I’m not sure about models other than the Rubicons. On the Rubicons, 4.88s is a factory order option with the 3.6. It is not a stock item. Regearing is always necessary when going bigger tires. I am going with 37s; and with the manual transmission, 4.88s will be perfect. So that is one less thing for me to do for my project - and money saved!

During negotiations, I did not want to draw attention to any existing upgrades with the Ford salesman; as I did not want to compromise my negotiating position. I had the upper hand because they took the Jeep as a trade-in and had it sitting on their lot for almost 2 months.
