Hey everybody, I am new to the forum but not new to Jeeps. I've owned 2 TJs and 2 JKs. About a month ago I purchased a 2018 JLU Sport S. It had a little over 25k miles on it when I got it.
About 2 weeks ago I took a trip that was about 200 miles mainly on the highway. We were trying to get somewhere before it got dark, so I pushed the Jeep a little harder than I normally would have by doing 75-80 mph the whole way. A few days after this trip I noticed this weird humming sound coming from what seems to be under the hood. (Link to video I filmed this morning on my way to work is below.)
The noise seems to be happening at all speeds. Its more noticeable when I am driving slow because there isn't much wind noise. You can hear it slightly when I am accelerating but its really noticeable when I let off the gas and coast. In the video I shift into neutral after I make a left turn just to see if the sound stops when it isn't in gear, however the sound continues. The Jeep is an 8 speed auto with the V6. I also can feel vibration in the steering wheel and gas pedal.
Same engine as my 2017 Willys and I don't recall ever hearing this.
Three things I think it could be is an exhaust leak, a wheel bearing or the transmission. I haven't gone to the dealership yet but I plan on making an appointment soon. I feel like it's going to be a big ordeal and they'll say they don't hear it or tell me nothing is wrong.
Has anyone experienced this and had it fixed? Can anyone share their opinion? Here's a link to the video I made this morning:
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
