Hi guys. How do I stop the open-door alarm? I want to listen to the radio while cleaning out the JL.

Little help please.

Yeah, it takes 5 seconds to remove the cover and disconnect the door cable.

For some disconnecting and reconnecting the door cable can be a real trouble point lets say... and the less they do it the better.

Sure to remove your doors for driving doorless, do it.... but for just wanting to stop the ding... for some/most, it's best to do what the guy did in the video..

Why you ask do I say this ..... Because many many botch the cable reconnect ... they are not proficient at doing so.. so they bend pins and then have issues...

Yes, sure some are adept at rebending the pins but for other's they will have get the dealer involved, etc.

Anyway, to just kill the ding while you vacuum the Jeep.... do as in the video.. makes more sense for most, considering.

I've had my doors on and off dozens of times and am not sure how people are "bending" contacts. In order to connect them, they have to align into the harness a good 1/4 inch before you engage the cam to lock them in place. As long as you are paying attention you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

Yes, I agree .....But FB and forum posts are peppered with guys/gals saying they are having issues and of course they come back and say the dealer said it was a bent door pin... or they found a bent door pin and had to have someone bend back and there are those that have to have the cable/connector replaced..

As mentioned for a door ding fix while you vacuum the Jeep.... why fool with the door connector..

I'm 73 yo and I have had a many a Jeep and am very proficient at the door cable disco.... and I even skip the cable disconnect and do the other way to quickly silence the ding.

To each his own.... but when I teach, I always tech the way that is the easiest way and the way lets apt to get you a headache... I also throw in the other way, so the person learning knows that way too.

99% of people are going to forget to mess with the latch again after spending 20 minutes cleaning and slam the door on a close mechanism. Sure, if you are going to remember to do that and not risk breaking something by slamming a door with a closed latch thats maybe faster, but you cant break anything by closing the door with a disconnected cable.

Thanks for the replies all. I can close the latch. I have a 3" round black rubber seam-saver jack pad that pops onto the striker nicely and acts as a door bumper so i don't destroy the latch if the door gets slammed.

Now I can blast all the easy listening music I want while vacuuming. My days are nicer now. Thanks again.

I disconnected the door wires the first time i took the doors off and never pugged them back in.
The door harness is tucked into the cargo net on the door.

Oh hell, you should have said that from the start. Nope, sorry, there's no way to turn off the dinging :CWL:
