I received and installed my Hothead Headliners today. It was about 92 degrees and 110% humidity but I got the job done and they look great! We went with the Medium Grey and it really compliments the seat color of our 2024 Willys!
One thing I found when installing the back panels on my 2024 Willys 2 door was how tight the fit was trying to slide the panels all the way forward. With the backing removed from the 3M tape, I'm not so sure this can be done withough possibly messing up the tape or ending up with the panels misaligned. They were tough to get in there with the backing still on the tape.
So, I peeled back the tape on the front edge of each 3M strip like this…
Then used an Awl to punch a hole through the backing strip of each one.
I then took 2 lengths of string, about 2 foot long, and tied the ends to the 2 strips on each side of the panel.
I peeled back the tape backing a bit so they would pull off easier and laid the strings to either side.
Once the panel was in place and perfectly aligned, I pulled the string from one side, pressed the panel in place, then pulled the string from the other side.
Here you see the string hanging on one side where it's easy to grab to remove the backing from the 3M tape.
You can see how easily the backing pulled off the 3M tape, making the placement so much easier!
When I test fitted the panels on the back half of our 2 door, the new sound bar was quite close to the roof making it hard to slide those panels into place. So, I knew it was going to be a major challenge to slide them into place witht he backing removed from the 3M tape. This solved that problem! I hope this helps someone else get their HotHead Liners installed in their 2 door Wrangler!
