I figured as much @Mark. Thanks. I didn't conflate your offering of solution with endorsement (or criticism) of same.I just saw that one google images one ever thought it was interesting. I couldn’t find much more info one it though. It would block the backup camera for sure.
...so I can understand your vision, you propose some mechanism by which detached Freedom Panels can adhere to the inside ceiling of the back portion of the (by definition, not removed) hard top, correct? What about some sort of hardtop inside ceiling rig in the rear cargo area? People mount axes and firearms on the roll cage up there.
If it ever returns to the front burner. . . what about a roof rack over the rear hardtop that allows the two freedom panels to be fastened to them using the same kind of clamps used in their normal position? Skip the hardware / glides, just provide a simple, solid mount to hold 'em outside the cabin but not obstructing the view. Ok, just a thought. . .A few months back, while juggling the 3.14 or so ongoing inventions for the Wrangler in my head, while eating pi (trailing "e" deliberately removed0), I had thought of making, using the equivalent of heavy duty cabinet drawer sides, or woodworker's "C" channel, a way to push the Freedom Panels back, over the back panel and lock them in place that way.
The limited number of places to attach the hardware to on the panels, combined with the known fact that Bestop would release its Sunrider product for the JL (for which I am a happy customer) and better address open air in front issues, back burnered that project.![]()
