I need some help. I finally received the @DV8Offroad hinge steps this past week. I watched a few YouTube videos, to understand the challenges and best way to install.

Started at the rear passenger bottom hinge. No problem. Moved to the top...disaster. one bold won't loosen, to the point of the tool gouging the door, and the other bolt completely stripped out.

I was so happy with my work I threw the wrench at the wall and went inside.

Any help or direction on how to fix this current problem, then get the other 12 loose without destroying my doors would be VERY appreciated.

Ouch.
Did you use T50?
That's not the worst of it, unfortunately. I was using a t-47 that fit perfectly. Until it didn't.

I stripped out 4 bolts, but didn't destroy the paint anywhere else.

I'd think twice about whether I REALLY need these steps before I went off to install em. It's NOT easy.

Yeah, you've probably read this already.
But you need to use a T-50, and hammer in the bit to break the paint.
I had a big burly guy with a breaker bar to do it for me. And he almost broke his back.

I swallowed my pride and went to the local off road shop who will be installing these hinge steps for me on Friday for a nominal fee.

It's better this way. And I'll keep telling myself that. :(

I’m looking at different places to help me with my hinge steps since I have the same problem. What did they charge you to do the install? Seems every place has a different price

Went to Home Depot and bought a T50 bit that would fit my normal size ratchet(not the one that comes with the Jeep) and with reinforcement I now have all 4 hinge steps attached. Don’t use the jeeps tools and it should work
