Wow, I'm surprised to see this thread still going!!!I read somewhere that chalk test does not work with modern tires. They are actually designed to ride on central thread for fuel efficiency. Plus with all this low sub 30 psi pressure you are actually overheating your tires on the highway and bring down the longevity. Somebody in this thread mentioned that your pressure should go up around 10% during long highway drives. If its more you are overheating your tires.
I did the chalk test last year and I didn't personally think it was a great test. I dropped my PSI to about 33 or 34 last year and I felt like it wandered less. During winter, I pumped the tires back up to the stock 37 psi.
This summer, they are still at 37psi. On the highway, I see the go to around 41psi, which is what you were talking about.
The handling issue, I think I just got used to it. I feel more confident driving it now and either things have been broken in or I just got used to it.
