Heater Hose 2.0

My heater hose is leaking which is why we keep topping off coolant.
Has anyone replaced it themselves? We have searched YouTube- can’t find a video.

They wanted $515 but the hubby works at an off-road shop but he hasn’t changed out hoses on a turbo JL but he got it done today.

Yeah mine had a pinhole leak for a while but finally noticed pink crust coming down the block. There was never a drop on the ground though. The jeep dealer wanted almost $600 to replace the hose!! It is not covered under the warranty because it is a "normal wear part". Mine has 21K miles, I guess these things are so unreliable it needs over $500 in hoses every 20K miles due to normal wear? The dealer showed me the old one and I asked why couldn't they just cut the hose and add a splice. They said that jeep will not "let them" do it. Translation Splice = $25 Hose = $600.

It is so expensive because it is not just a hose. It is going into special plastic mounting blocks on each end that get bolted to the engine and the firewall. Why the hell would jeep take something that is as simple as a heater hose and make it so complicated? Are they trying to swear us off the brand?

With the crazy complexity of these things I cannot imagine keeping it much past 75K miles or so. The engine bay probably has 4x as many parts as an suv from 10 years ago and each one of those parts can/will break eventually. Imagine relying these things to get you home from an off road trail with 100K on the clock?!?

Have been having problems with leaking coolant, and finally discovered the culprit: The heater supply hose. It draws from the same coolant reservoir as the radiator, but only draws when you use the heater. In my case, the nipple part of this assembly deteriorated and broke off in the adjacent hose that leads back to the reservoir. Of course the dealer charged me $100, and I could get it direct from Mopar for $50. (updated: I had to plug both ends with a screw to keep it from flowing out while I drove to the mechanic. Cost me another $100 to install, but that is through my super inexpensive mechanic.)
